Canada Post Strike Effect on Our Small Business

Canada Post Strike Effect on Our Small Business

This holiday season looks a little different then most for our small business. We are currently suffering major losses due to the Canada Post strike.

Shopping on our website has pivoted from exclusively using Canada Post, to now shipping with UPS while the strike continues. Depending on the service, this may be a pivot we make permanently in the future.

If you order off of thebfscloset.ca you will have your order shipped with UPS while the strike is ongoing.

How did this effect us so negatively then? There is an overall shift this season for anyone purchasing online with small businesses. Customers are feeling hesitant to shop with us due to huge delay across the board with shipping. Everyone is unsure if and when they will receive their packages, and are just opting out all together.

Third party apps / websites we use like Poshmark Canada, only use Canada Post. At this time, almost a months worth of sales are stuck in limbo with no solution being offered by Poshmark Canada. This is delaying payouts, and causing unhappy customer to cancel orders due to the wait.

A large percentage of our online sales are made through third party websites, and we are unable to fulfill orders over there. Along with a large decline in sales, and a huge up swing of people cancelling this holiday season is not going how we hoped. With these months usually out performing the rest of the year, this holiday season just isn't going well.

Please support small businesses online, or in person when you can for the holidays.
